Notes on becoming a Jew

To be or not to be a Jew

In order to become perfect, and to be in the family of Jesus Christ, we must be bone of his bone flesh of his flesh till we all come into the fullness of the statue of Christ.

Ephesians 4:2, 13 - 16

2For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of  God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:  The fullness of Christ includes his nationality land of nativity and culture in which he was raised, from baby to manhood to the Cross to the right hand of his Father and my Father his God and my God,  John 20:17)

At the moment of belief the process of adoption into the family of Jesus Christ takes place.    The process ends with confession of sins and commitment to Jesus Christ.   As Jesus said, you must be born again (John 3: 7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.)   The baby must grow in faith, Knowledge, perfection, into the fullness of Christ;   you are no longer adopted but a borne son of God.

Ephesians 4:14

14That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

What nationality was Christ?  Jesus was the only Jew on the face of this earth without sin.   He was the only human being that could qualify to be our Savior with Jewish blood flowing through his veins, blood that kept him alive as he walked this earth.   It was this Jew that if we believe in him we will have eternal life.

John 3:15

15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Jesus was born of a Jewish woman who can trace her genealogy back to David King of Israel on whose throne Jesus will sit.  A Jewish throne that is King David’s of the tribe of Judah.

Luke 1:31- 33

31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. . . . (Yeshua in Hebrew) Yeshua spoke a mixture of Hebrew and Aramaic.

32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.. . .The house of Jacob is Jacob and his twelve sons of which Judah is a Tribe.

Ephesians 2:11-

11Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.   What blood was flowing through Christ’ veins Jewish blood.

So then who is a Jew?    Who have been adopted into the commonwealth of Israel?

Read the stinging indictment Paul charged the Jews, that they be not carried with pride.

Romans 2:1 - 28

28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: (Paul clearly identify the Jew that he is talking about, he is not talking about the outward signs and culture that identify a Jewish person,)  29But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Paul the Apostle to the gentiles gives a clear picture of our attitude toward the Jews and why Gentiles should not boast and put down the Jews.   This is a prophesy spoken by Jesus in, Luke 21: 24And they (the Jews) will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Romans 11:13 - 32

13For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

14If by any means I may provoke to emulation (a ambitious rivalry) them which are my flesh,(Jews) and might save some of them.

15For if the casting away of them (Jews) be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? (See also Matt.8:12 12But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” . . . who was the sons of the kingdom, the sons of Israel the chosen people.)

16For if the first fruit (Jesus) be holy, the lump (the Jews) is also holy: and if the root be holy, (Jesus) so are the branches (plural the Jews and Gentiles).

17And if some of the branches (plural house of Judah and house of Israel) be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, (Gentiles) wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18Boast not against the branches. (Those Jews and Israelites) But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

19Thou wilt say then, the branches (Jews and Israelites) were broken off, that I might be grafted in. 20Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou (Gentiles standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear:

21For if God spared not the natural branches, (Jews and Israelites) take heed lest he also spare not thee (Gentiles).  22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

23And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

25For I would not, brethren that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 7For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

28As concerning the gospel, they (Jews) are enemies for your (Gentile) sakes: but as touching the election, they (Jews) are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. . . . (See Isaiah 14:1  1For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers (Gentiles) shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.)   and (Jeremiah 23: 5Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.)   Compare Jeremiah 23:5 with Jeremiah 33:15    15In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. 16In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

Romans 11:29 continue:

29For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30For as ye (Gentiles) in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their (Jews) unbelief:

31Even so have these (Jews)  also now not believed, that through your (Gentile) mercy they (these unbelieving Jews) also may obtain mercy.

32For God hath concluded them (both Jew and Gentile) all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. (Both Jew and Gentile)

God has now included the Gentiles as Jews you are no longer a Gentile but a member of the commonwealth of Israel.   You are a circumcised Jew because you came to Jesus; the Jew into the Tribe of Judah,   Your salvation came to you through the Tribe of Judah.   You have been adopted into the Tribe of Judah from which Jesus came and the throne of his father David on which he will sit.    Then what is the advantage in being a Jew,  Romans  3:1  1What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. 3For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? 4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

According to the “New Covenant God made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah, Hebrews 8:8

8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and with the House of  Judah: and as the results both houses become (“the name change in Covenants Abram to Abraham Genesis 17:4 “) Gal 6:16  “The Israel of God”  as in 1 Peter 2:4 - 10

4To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light10Which in time past were not a people, (Gentiles) but are now the people of God (Jews and Gentiles): which had not obtained mercy, (Gentiles) but now have obtained mercy(both Jew and Gentile).   Then you are a citizen of “The Israel of God” Gal 6:16 16And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon “the Israel of God.”

Zechariah 1:17

17Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

Now lets look at this new creature that Paul say you are if you be in Christ.   In      2 Corinthians 5:16 -  21

16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Gal 6:15

15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor Uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.    Citizenship in the New Israel of God is everything.   Jesus was a new creature in Mary because he was put there by the Holy Spirit.

Note Luke 1:35 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.. . .Holy Thing New Creature same  in meaning.   It means that the creature in Mary is both divine and human and this creature is called the “Son Of God” that put on the flesh of a Jew John 1:14  14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God is introducing for the first time in human history a new creature among the creatures of the earth, “the seed of the woman”.   Genesis 3:15

15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel.     Paul is saying (11 Corinthians 5:17 and Galatians 6:15 that when the Holy Spirit joins with our human spirit it produces that same new creature, (that Jesus was and is now a Jew) and we become the children of God John 1:12   12But as many as received him, (The Jew and

Gentile) to them gave he power to become the sons of God, (that same Jewish blood that was shed, gives us the Power to become sons of God) even to them that believe on his name:

To really understand read and study 1 Corinthians 15:35 - 52    It is God that gives us the body that the seed of the Holy Spirit planted in us.

1 Corinthians 15:38

38But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. . . . (And another of Jesus Christ). . . 40There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.
